Our Story

Stōr is the story of a couple of engineers, a ski rental shop-owning former Olympic skier, a construction company, and a 3D wood art business.

Conceptually simple, Stōr racks are nonetheless several years and many, many design iterations in the making - from humble beginnings as a purely functional piece on which to store staff skis and boards in Vail's Vista Bahn ski rental shop, through various custom designs for high-end homes within the Vail Valley, to their current glossy gorgeousness. Through a meticulous design process, every curve and angle has been carefully calculated to provide the safest home for all of your skis, so you can Ski More, and Stōr More.

  • Neil Stewart

Neil is the archetypal out-of-the-box thinker, a creative problem solver and unique blend of engineer and artist.

He studied Chemical and Process Systems Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and after 20 years working in the oil industry decided to focus his energy on his side hustle, Highline Wood Art, with his wife, Caroline. Highline Wood Art has gone on to win awards for their unique 3D parametric wood art, and Neil and Caroline decided to branch out into other avenues, launching Stōr a couple of years later.

  • Caroline Stewart

Caroline studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where she met her future husband, Neil. She also learned to love the country's national drink, Scotch, which led her to a career in operations management of whisky distilleries.

Caroline's meticulous eye for detail and dislike of any kind of compromise (just ask Neil) are two of the reasons that Stōr Ski racks have ended up being quite as awesome as they are (even if she does say so herself.)

  • Sacha Gros

Sacha Gros grew up in Vail, Colorado. He was on the US National Ski Team from 1993-2002 and skied giant slalom at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Sacha now operates Vista Bahn Ski Rentals in Vail Village. Thanks to a passing comment about his staff's ski equipment taking up too much space, he inadvertently gave us the idea for Stōr Ski racks, and his wealth of experience in the ski industry has since been instrumental in helping us develop that idea into a reality.

  • Alex Coleman

Alex also grew up in Vail, skiing his way through high school and college and maintaining his love of adrenaline sports to this day.

Alex has spent nearly 30 years working in the construction industry. He has been the biggest cheerleader of Stōr racks since their inception and has spearheaded the installation of many of our custom racks into high-end custom homes in the Vail Valley.
